Melissa Ashcraft, owner of Transitions Equestrian Center, grew up in the Michigan City area in a family of zookeepers. Her love of animals and especially horses began early when her father gave Melissa her first horse at the age of ten for Christmas. Tara instilled in Melissa a deep love and understanding of horses, which grew into a career riding and training some of the greatest horses in the country. At 22 years of age, Melissa trained and rode for the World Famous Lipizzaner Stallions, as well as competed in Grand Prix level jumping and dressage. She has trained horses for competitions, performances, and movies. Now she devotes all her energy to running her own boarding and training facility in La Porte, Indiana where she continues her passion and love for horses.

Prodigy of Majestic Friesians, aka Prodigy, is a 14-year-old stallion, owned by Lori Calka Brock of Majestic Friesians. Prodigy’s dam is Brock’s Ster mare Wietske, by Tsjalke who is one of the top stallions standing at stud in the Netherlands. He has a great deal of character. While very full of himself, this young stallion is always ready to be loved and give hugs. Being completely all about him, Prodigy loves to work the camera and once ignored a trainer in favor of his own reflection in a mirror. Lori entrusted her beloved Prodigy to Melissa to live and train at Transitions Equestrian Center, where he enjoys his status as Melissa’s favorite!

As a stallion, he is gorgeous, but a handful. After years of dealing with his typical stallion behavior, Melissa decided to try him on a course of CBD. The results were remarkable. Prodigy is one of our favorite Transitions Treats Ambassadors. For us to call him Calm, Brave and Dependable™ is saying a lot!
